How to Find Love and Enjoy Dating
I'm thinking about how negative we can be about dating when we are single. And it makes sense with catfishing, ghosting, lame dates, people who aren't who they say they are, endless swiping, social media showing us perfect couples, the media telling us how we need to look and behave to find love... The reasons to hate dating are endless.
The problem is that if you want to meet someone or find someone to create a relationship with, you kinda have to date. And if you are in a negative mindset around dating, good luck being the person others want to date or attracting a person you want to date.
I can think of many dates I went on where the woman told me on the first date how she hates dating. In my mind, I was so turned off, thinking, "Great, I'm so happy I'm on a date with you." And I know there were times when I was the person with a negative attitude or mindset and wondered why I couldn't find what I wanted.
Dating isn't easy, but that doesn't mean it has to be hard. Your attitude, mindset, and perspective on dating will often determine your experience, and the way you are being will likely attract or repel who you are looking for.
It might be hard to hear, but the experience you have dating isn't because of all the other people; it's because of you. Nobody is creating the experience for you. You are picking the people to date. You are choosing how you date. You are deciding who you meet and where you give your attention. You are even selecting the attitude and mindset you bring to dating. Dating like it or not, is a mirror reflecting a lot about you.
I get that can sting, and I remember when I realized it and saw the same thing for myself. If I wanted it to go differently, I had to take responsibility for how it was going.
